Shellabration Inc. welcomes legendary pop recording artist Chicago to Fort Dodge (Iowa) on Thursday, August 7th. This year’s event will once again take place on the Fort Dodge Soccer Association Fields at Rogers Sports Complex. Gates open at 6PM night-of-show with Fort Dodge’s “Saucy Jack” to open the show beginning at 7PM and Chicago to follow.
Starting out in 1967 with the dream of becoming a rock n’ roll band with horns, Chicago went on to record (20) “Top 10” singles and (12) “Top 10” albums (5 of which went to #1). According to Billboard chart statistics, Chicago has the distinction of being second only to the Beach Boys as the most successful American rock band of all time in terms of both albums and singles with recording sales of over 120 million. The band celebrated its 40th anniversary of music making in 2007. They additionally reached another significant milestone the year prior having released their 30th album (Chicago XXX).
Chicago has benefited from great continuity over the years. Four of the six founding members (songwriters Robert Lamm and James Pankow, plus Lee Loughnane and Walt Parazaider) remain to this day. Bill Champlin has put in over 25 years with the band, Jason Scheff over 20, Tris Imboden with 15 and Keith Howland having 11. The current lineup has been in place longer than any other in music group history. Some of the group’s biggest hits include “Saturday in the Park”, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is”, “Feelin’ Stronger Everyday”, “Call on Me”, “Hard Habit to Break” and “25 or 6 to 4”.
Tickets for Chicago are $28.00 (in advance) general admission with kids 12 years of age and under admitted free. In the event there are tickets remaining, they will be sold at the gate for the price of $35.00. “We fully expect this event to be a sellout”, says Shellabration President, Jim Reed. “If you are thinking about attending, I would definitely buy your tickets early”.

Shellabration Inc. provides a Kid’s Zone with large inflatable games and activities for children 12 years of age and under. Additionally there is a special concession stand with food and treats geared toward younger attendees (and frequented by “big kids” too) with items such as nachos, ice cream, snow cones, cotton candy, candy and much more. We also have a Glow Zone with an extensive array of glow in the dark items sure to please children of any age once it becomes dark.
